The research looks to address the high energy demands of lighting within our workspaces. Inspired by the presence of Spanish moss, the project creates a lightweight tensile structure that can expand or contract to the users requirements. The laser cut fabric ‘moss’ is therefore not always taut as in traditional tensile constructions and instead hangs and sways gently in the wind.

The building for the Catalan Cycling Federation is to create a new athlete cycling and training centre that transforms the area around Gloria roundabout in Barcelona creating a new cycling hub and safe route through the busy traffic junction into the upcoming business district of poblenau.

The building employs the hangsiles for passive thermal comfort of the athlete and workers using the facility as well as those enjoying lunch in the park below.
